Dr. Melinda Newell has over 15 years of experience advising trial teams, in-house counsel, and senior management at Fortune 500 and small companies in a variety of industries regarding case strategy and the risks of litigation in multimillion dollars lawsuits.  Melinda specializes in jury selection, trial strategy, and jury research in all types of cases, and she has provided consultation and selected over 200 juries in civil cases in federal and state courts around the country.

Melinda has a strong background in research methodologies, including statistical analysis and data reporting.  She has designed and managed small and large scale jury research projects, including those customized to assess potential damages and to produce robust juror profiles.  In addition, Melinda has coordinated the collection of quantitative and qualitative data for a large longitudinal study involving impoverished children, analyzed the data, and reported the findings and conclusions to the funding foundation.

Melinda has extensive experience in jury selection, jury research, case analysis, assisting with openings and closings, trial monitoring, and post-trial interviews. She has worked on many types of case, including employment litigation, asbestos, toxic tort and environmental matters, intellectual property litigation, contract disputes, premises liability lawsuits, and professional negligence and malpractice cases.

Melinda received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at Duke University, and she obtained her Ph.D. in educational Psychology at University of California, Los Angeles.
